Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She was the first and the first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live on stage and also act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a student as well as child of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982, and her first years she split between London New Delhi. As a teenager when her first performance at New Delhi took place. She graduated in 1999 from her high school studies in Encinitas CA. While she's still young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. Since a while, she regularly performs with her father. She released her first self-titled album Anourag in 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Her career on stage is broad as she's been in every one of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't restricted to just music. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is an illustrated biography that pays special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. The year 2003 saw her was a part in Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and will surely be more things to come from this talented lady. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her early years in London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she went to the high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration Anoushka first made an appearance playing the sitar in front of the audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. Alongside her father, his world tour, Anoushka had a wealth of experience performing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as making recordings alongside George Harrison. In recognition of being an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
